Unique barn construction treasures

Unique items

We regularly encounter interesting and unique treasures. This collection of "Ship's Knees" came from the East coast where shipwrights would apply their ship building timber framing techniques to barn construction. Sculpted from root stock, these braces had the inherent strength found in the tree's base and roots. incorporated into a timber frame, these members provided lateral stability while minimally affecting head room. A rare and beautiful find!

We offer antique building materials to our clients, to other contractors, designers and to the general public. If you are interested in incorporating antique reclaimed materials in your home or building project, please contact Martin St-Jacques with Southwest Log and Timber Works directly at 682-401-1201 or by Email for current price list and availability.
